OUR ORIGIN
The seeds of Abroad were sown in the peaceful landscapes of Bhutan, a small Himalayan kingdom renowned for its philosophy of Gross National Happiness, a living testament to the belief that true progress extends beyond economic growth to include the holistic wellbeing of individuals, society, and the natural world.
Our story began with a group of executive coaches, emotion psychologists, and wisdom keepers who embarked on a soul-searching journey through Bhutan’s most remote valleys. Along the way, we crossed paths with a group of visionary business leaders from one of the world’s top business schools, all exploring new futures for leadership and prosperity.
At a wellness resort, which would later become one of our earliest investors, we gathered around a table to share ideas, meals, and stories. In that moment of connection, a realization emerged: when people reconnect with the timeless wisdom of humanity, something profound awakens. Vision, values, and impact realign toward what truly matters.
It was in that serendipitous moment that the vision for Abroad was born.

The Wisdom Worldview
As we enter the next decade of our work, our research has revealed something extraordinary: across every wisdom tradition on Earth, there are six shared principles that may hold the key to solving many of our most pressing modern challenges.
Long before nations or modern systems emerged, human beings lived by a shared intelligence. Though they spoke different languages, inhabited different landscapes, and practiced different traditions, Indigenous cultures found common ground in a worldview that placed nature, community, and spirit at the center of life.
We call this orientation the Wisdom Worldview.
It is not a philosophy created by one culture, but a universal ethos remembered across continents and centuries, as if humanity has been whispering the same truth through many voices.
